What We Think
Simply put, Kerensa Care and Support exists to empower people to develop and grow.
This not only focuses on the people we support, but extends to our teams and the communities in which we engage.
“Empowering People to Develop and Grow”
Why do we do this? Well, our goal, our mission, our reason for existence, is:
“To give Real Purpose and Opportunity to the people we support and the people that support them, through enabling personal development, respecting individual differences and promoting a Zest for Life mindset.”
This isn’t just a fancy tagline or corporate heading, it is an ethos that shapes our decision making, our future planning, the conversations that we have and the relationships that we hold. As we empower individuals, we have found that people gain purpose, satisfaction in what they do, and a “zest for life mindset” that transcends any barriers of disability.
While it is of course crucial to understand people’s needs, it is also important to focus not on what they can’t do, but to ask ourselves, what can they do, and how can we empower and enable them to do this? Be it combing one’s own hair, or abseiling down a mountain, the support we provide is person-centred for each individual.
Kerensa comes from the Cornish language meaning “love”, and embodies what we do, why we choose to do it, and how we love to do it.
Our Background

Sam Pictor

Sam is one of our Directors at Kerensa Care and Support, with a broad financial background, business management skills and a family who are almost all involved in health and social care, developing and growing Kerensa Care and Support became the obvious way forward.
“We identified a specific need for adult social care provision in Cornwall, but we are not just about providing vital support. This organisation looks after everyone in which it engages with, aiming to maximise both the direct and indirect positive social impact that we have, creating a 360-degree approach for the people we support, their families, our carers, the services that we use and the community around us.”
